This course will discuss the importance of ethics in workplace safety, highlighting its role as one of the most crucial guiding principles ensuring the well-being and safety of individuals under their care.

This course is ideal for safety professionals, managers, safety and risk professionals, and leaders responsible for ensuring workplace safety who are looking to deepen their understanding of the ethical dimensions of their roles.

Students will learn how to:

  • Make ethically sound decisions in safety management, ultimately contributing to a safer and more ethical workplace environment.
  • Comprehend and define ethics from a safety professional's perspective and its importance in maintaining safe working conditions.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will attain the designation of Ethical Decision-Making in Safety Management Specialist (ESMS). With this certificate, the student will have acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities to:

  • Recognize, identify, and assess the moral implications of various courses of action in safety management.

Prerequisites:

The Ethical Decision-Making in Safety Management Specialist (ESMS) course is a foundational course that requires no prerequisites.

Continuing Education Units:

(0.60) CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded for individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.

Online Exams:

The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive a certificate. You have two opportunities to pass each exam.

Recertification:

A refresher course and exam will be required every five (5) years. The cost of this recertification is $395.
