PHSM Course Description:
The Psychological Health & Safety Manager (PHSM) course provides you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to a level of proficiency expected of a professional who is capable of designing and managing a comprehensive Psychological Health & Safety Program in the workplace.
Addressing PHS in the workplace can be difficult. This course will provide the tools necessary to plan, develop, and implement a proper and effective PHS program. Students will learn how to understand and interpret the principles developed by ISO, NIOSH, and the many research professionals who have developed the concept of PHS in the workplace. The required amount of time to complete the course is dependent upon your knowledge of workplace safety, but we find that the average completion time is approximately 26 hours. You have up to 6 months to complete the course.
Upon completion of the Psychological Health & Safety Manager (PHSM) course, the student will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to:
- Define the history of PHS and the significance of PHS risks in the workplace
- Describe the interrelation between OSHA, NIOSH, ISO, and other international agencies as it applies to PHS hazards and risks
- Recognize and explain how other organizations have practically applied PHS concepts to lowering injury rates within their organizations
- Define and teach principles of PHS, along with their risks and mitigation in the workplace
- Compose a comprehensive evaluation of your workplace psychosocial hazards and risks using a scientific worker survey
- Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive PHS program for your workplace
- Identify and assess specific psychosocial risks present in your workplace
- Identify and apply proper mitigation of the psychosocial risks present in your workplace
- Manage, analyze, and document the success of your PHS program
- Design, measure, and implement continuous improvement plans in your PHS program
Prerequisites and Authorization:
The PHSM is a foundational course that requires no prerequisites; however, prior knowledge of workplace safety is highly recommended.
Continuing Education Units:
2.6 CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded to individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.
Online Exams:
The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive certification. You have two opportunities to pass each exam.
Recertification:
A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $295.00
